TNOU B.Ed 2025: Application Form, Dates, Eligibility Criteria

Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) was established in 2002, to increase access to higher education and improve the quality of education offered through the open and distance learning modes by coordinating such provisions in the state, the Government of Tamil Nadu. It offers 113 programs through 13 academic schools 5 support divisions & 1 media center.

TNOU offers 2-year Bachelor’s in Education (B.Ed) course through a Merit list & counselling process based on candidates’ bachelor’s marks. Eligible & Interested candidates are requested to apply only after reading all the guidelines & eligibility from the official website before applying for TNOU B.Ed 2025.

TNOU B.Ed 2025 Important Event Dates

TNOU B.Ed 2025 Application Form 

TNOU B.Ed 2025 Online Application Form will be released on the 4th week of January 2025.

• TNOU B.Ed (Spl. Ed.) 2025 Application Form can be filled by the 3rd week of February 2025. 
• Before applying for TNOU B.Ed candidates are requested to go through the detailed notification & eligibility mentioned in the prospectus.
• The application form is available both in Offline & Online mode.
• Candidates can take offline from the university.
• Candidates should fill in their personal & academic information carefully to apply for the exam.
• Candidates must upload their relevant documents through scanned copies only.
• Candidates are advised to take a print out of the application form & submit it to the TNOU Zonal Centre.
• The last date for receiving the filled in application in person or by post will be notified in the advertisement later.

Application Fee

Candidates can pay the application fee through offline mode.

• Candidates can pay application fees through e-challan.
• Candidates can apply for e-challan from any Nationalized/Scheduled Bank.
• Candidates have to send it to ‘Tamil Nadu Open University’ payable at Chennai.
• Application Fee once paid is No-Refundable.

TNOU B.Ed 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification

Trained in-service teachers in elementary education such as D.T.Ed., from any Government, recognized school within the state of Tamil Nadu.

• Candidates who have completed an NCTE recognized teacher education program through face-to-face mode.
• Candidates having a Master’s Degree in Science, Humanities, Social Science, Commerce & another relevant appearing can also eligible to apply.
• Candidates passed in Bachelor’s Degree should have 50% marks.
• Candidates with a reserved category will get a relaxation of 5%.
• The candidates satisfying the qualification prescribed by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and Tamil Nadu G.O.(1D)No.94 of 2018 are eligible to apply for B.Ed (Spl. Ed).
• Candidates should have undergone a 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern of study & passed the qualifying examination conducted by the state board or CBSE or any other recognized university and UGC recognized universities.
• Candidates, who have taken more than one main subject in Part III & Part IV (under Double / Triple Major System) of the UG degree course should have to choose only one of the main subjects and should have applied for that Major only. In such cases, marks obtained by the candidates in two/three major subjects shall be taken into account to arrive at the percentage of marks as stipulated in item (ix) herein.

Reservation of Seats

TNOU B.Ed 2025 Exam Pattern

The Structure of the Question Paper will be as Given below:

• The Entrance Examination will be for the duration of 2 hours and a maximum of 100 Marks with 100 Questions.
• Questions will be of multiple-choice type. Optical Mark Reader (OMR) coding answer sheets will be supplied to the candidates.
• The Question paper for the Entrance Examination will be bilingual i.e., Tamil and in English.

TNOU B.Ed 2025 Admit Card

TNOU B.Ed (Spl. Ed.) 2025 Admit Card can be Download through the Official Website. TNOU B.Ed (Spl. Ed) 2025 Admit Card will be available in December 2025.

The Hall tickets can be downloaded from the university website or can receive the duplicate Hall ticket from the Entrance Examination Centre on the day of the examination from 8.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m.

by producing proof for the dispatch of the Application and two passport size color photographs. Candidates can download the Admit card by Entering Application No. and Date of Birth.

TNOU B.Ed 2025 Result 

TNOU Spl B.Ed 2025 Result will be Declared on the 4th week of February 2025. In the Entrance Examination, the answers are marked in the OMR coding sheet.

As this OMR answer sheet is scanned by Computer for publishing Result, there won’t be any mistake/change in the award of marks. Hence, there is no revaluation option for the candidates.

TNOU Merit Ranking 2025

The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in a major and ancillary or allied subject (both in theory and practical) in the three years in the UG degree will be taken as the base mark for ranking for Serial no.1 to 6.

The percentage of marks obtained by the candidates in the P.G. Degree will be taken as the base mark for ranking for the Serial no.7 to 8, subject to the condition that the major subject in the UG and PG Degrees shall be the same.

The merit list will be declared after one month of the entrance exam. Candidates can check their merit list on the official website. TNOU will declare both distance & regular cut off for the candidates.

TNOU B.Ed 2025 Counseling

Candidates who successfully clear the Entrance exam will be eligible for counseling. TNOU B.Ed. (Spl. Ed.) 2025 Date of 1st Counseling Schedule is January 2025.

Counseling will be based on marks scored in the TNOU B.Ed Entrance Exam. Candidates have to report as soon as possible to take into B.Ed course after the allotment of Seats.

Candidates’ seat may get canceled if they do not report on the given date & time. The candidate has to take spot admission after the merit list & counseling process.

• 10th class mark sheet.
• 10th passing certificate.
• 12th class Marksheet.
• 12^th passing certificate.
• Degree Mark Sheet and certificate.
• Copy of the Aadhar Card (Compulsory).
• Category certificate.
• Passport size photographs.
• DD/Challan of Rs.50000/-.
