The Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test also is known as PSTET is managed by the State Council of Education Research Punjab for eligible candidates for a teaching job at the Primary and Secondary school levels.

On the basis of Eligibility Criteria, candidates can apply for the PSTET Examination through online mode. The PSTET Examination is conducted every year for the candidates and many of the applicants may appear in this examination.

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- a year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
OR
Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
OR
Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

Minimum Educational Qualification for Becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage):

Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
OR
Graduation with at least 45% marks and passing or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR

1. Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility to apply shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ ST/ OBC/ Differently abled

5. Candidates who are appearing in the final year of Bachelor Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc. are provisionally admitted and their PSTET Certificate shall be valid only on passing the aforesaid Examinations.

PSTET 2024 Syllabus

For Paper-I

Child Development and Pedagogy The syllabus shall focus on understanding the characteristics and needs of diverse learners, interaction with the focus on understanding for characteristics and needs of diverse, interaction with learners and the attributes and qualities of a good facilitator of learning
Mathematics The test items of Mathematics and Environmental Studies shall focus on the concepts, problem-solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of the subjects. In all these subject areas, the test items shall be evenly distributed over different divisions of the syllabus of that subject prescribed for classes IV by SCERT.
Language – I (Odia/Urdu/Hindi/Telugu/Bengali) Teaching Learning Materials, Principles of Teaching English, Unseen Prose Passage Comprehensive & Continuous Evaluation, Development of Language Skills, Teaching, Learning Materials, Unseen Prose Passage, etc.
Language – II (English) Basic knowledge of English Sounds and their Phonetic Transcription, Modal Auxiliaries, Phrasal Verbs and Idioms, Literary Terms, Unseen Prose Passage, Unseen Poem, etc.
Environmental Studies Water, Clothes dresses & their care, Natural Resources, Our Punjab, Solar System, Basic, needs, Food, resources and care, Our Surroundings, Group songs, Health, good habits & personal hygiene, Living and nonliving, Looking at the trees, plants & animals, Parts of plants, etc.

For Paper-II
