Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET) is the popular state-level eligibility test conducted through the Board of Secondary Education Odisha (BSEO) to recruit the teacher in the secondary schools of Odisha state.

Applicants will be able to apply in the OSSTET Examination if they will have qualified marks in class XII or graduation. Candidates can fill the application form of OSSTET online mode by visiting the official website of the Board of Secondary Education Odisha.

OSSTET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

All of aspiring candidates must check their Eligibility Criteria before filling out the Application Form. If candidates will not be eligible, they cannot apply for this examination. Eligibility criteria details are mentioned below.

Nationality

• Candidates should be Indian Citizens.
• Candidates should be residents of Odisha State.
• Candidates who belong to other states are not eligible.
• Candidates must be fluent and familiar with writing Odia.
• Candidates should pass their Higher Secondary Examination from the BSE Odisha. If Candidates passed their qualifying examination from CBSE and ICE Board Odia must be their one subject.
• Candidates should pass their Secondary Examination from the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha. Odia should be their one subject.
• Those who have passed Odia from BSE Odisha are eligible.
• Candidates who wish to become Hindi, Urdu, Telugu, and Sanskrit teachers must have passed at least Odia till class 7th Standard.

Academic and Professional Qualification:

This criterion is divided into two sections:

• Category I is for GT (Trained Graduate Teachers) in Arts/ Science/ Hindi/ Urdu/ Telugu/Sanskrit Stream.
• Category II is for Physical Education Teachers (PET)

Subject-wise Eligibility Criteria:

Physical Education Teacher (PET)

• Candidates must have 50% of marks in Class 12 (A 45% reservation will be given to the Reserved categories)
• Candidates must be passed their B.P.Ed/ M.P.Ed/ C.P.Ed from a recognized university or institute

Classical Teacher – Telugu

• Candidates must have 50% of marks in Class 12 (A 45% reservation will be given to the Reserved categories)
• Candidates must have passed their B.Ed Telugu from a recognized university or college

Classical Teacher – Urdu

• Candidates must have an Urdu B.Ed from a recognized university and Alim with 50% of marks (OR)
• Candidates must have a B.A. Persian degree with 50% of marks and Urdu B.Ed from a recognized university or institute

Classical Teacher – Sanskrit

• Candidates must pass their Shiksha Shastri (Sanskrit), a course prescribed by NCTE, from a Recognised University/ Institution and a Bachelor’s degree with Sanskrit as the main subject/ optional subject/ elective subject. (OR)
• Candidates must be passed their Shastri – Sanskrit Degree with a minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% for reserved categories) from a recognized university and Shiksha Shastri (Sanskrit), a course prescribed by NCTE, from a Recognised University/ Institution

Hindi Teacher

• Candidates must be passed their Bachelor’s degree with Hindi as the main subject/ elective subject/ optional subject/ second language and candidates must have a B.Ed degree in Hindi/ Hindi Sikshyan Parangat from Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Agra/ B.H.Ed course prescribed by NCTE, from a recognized University/ Institution (OR)
• Candidates must be passed their Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university along with Shastri (Hindi) from Orissa Rastrabhasa Parisad, Puri/ Rastrabhasa Ratna from Rastrabhasa Prachar Samiti, Wardha and B.Ed degree in Hindi/ Hindi Sikshyan Parangat from Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Agra/ B.H.Ed course prescribed by NCTE, from a recognized University/ Institution

Trained Graduate Science in the Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Chemistry, Botany, Zoology Subjects

• Candidates must have passed their B.Sc/ B.Tech/ B.E from a recognized university with 50% of marks (45% for reserved categories) and B.Ed from a recognized college/ university (OR)
• Candidates must have a Four-year integrated B.Sc B.Ed

Trained Graduate Arts

• Candidates must be passed their B.A/ B.Com with 50% of marks (45% for reserved categories) and B.Ed (OR)
• Candidates must have a Four-year integrated B.A. B.Ed
