NEET Exam is a national-level entrance Examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The candidates can fill out the NEET Application form in November every year to appear in the written NEET Entrance exam.

Candidates have to pay the application fee of Maharashtra MBBS 2024 is INR 1,060 (INR 1,000 – administration fee and INR 60 – Bank Charges).

Entrance Examinations for Medical

There is only One medical Entrance examination throughout the country to take admission into various medical courses. The entrance examination for admission into MBBS and BDS is NEET. This is the only examination the NTA provides for admission into Medical courses. For Admission into PG courses, NEET PG is conducted. No State and University level entrance examinations are conducted for admission into MBBS and BDS.

NEET UG examination is conducted every year by NTA. By the NEET Examination score, the candidate can get admission into MBBS/BDS Courses in the various medical colleges of the state through the Counselling procedure.

Once the candidates qualify for the entrance examination, they can be part of 15% AIQ and 85% State Quota seats. Some other entrance exams are also organized for offering medical courses like AIIMS and PGIMER. No state-level and university-level exams is conducted for admission to medical courses.

Maharashtra MBBS/BDS Admission Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have to check their eligibility criteria before filling out the application form, which is mentioned below.

  • Applicants should have Indian citizenship, including PIO and OCI.
  • The candidate should be a resident of Maharashtra state.
  • The candidate must be born on or before December 31, 2001, which means the candidate should not be less than 17 years of age at the time of admission or December 31, 2024.
  • They should be passed in Class 12 or equivalent examination from an institute in Maharashtra with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology).
  • The candidate must have scored at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, considering he/she belongs to the Open category in Class 12 or equivalent examination.
  • Appearing candidates in the 12th can also apply.
  • Candidates in the reserved category and PwD under the reserved category must obtain at least 40% marks in the subjects as mentioned earlier. The minimum qualifying percentage for PWD candidates belonging to the Open (Unreserved) category is 45%.
  • The candidate must secure the minimum required percentile in NEET 2024.

Selection Procedure /Counseling 2024

Candidates must pass the NEET Entrance Examination to get admission into MBBS/BDS courses in Maharashtra.

  • Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) & Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) are the counselling conducting authorities for admission to 15% of all India quota seats. State colleges of Maharashtra conducted their counselling for the rest of 85% of quota seats.
  • Candidates will be allowed to choose the institutions/Colleges in the counselling process, and the college will be allotted by the Rank secured in the NEET Examination.
  • Those NEET Applicants will be shortlisted in the merit list, and only they will be called out for the counselling procedure.
  • All the seats will be allotted to the respective candidates only after the verification of the documents. As per the rank obtained, options filled, and seat availability, the seats will be allotted to the candidates.
  • After the seat is allowed, the student,/she can reach the respective college/Institution to complete the admission formalities.
