KCET also was known as the Karnataka Common Entrance Test and this entrance test is conducted through KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority) to offer admission to the candidates in engineering, pharmacy, and other courses.

  • Exam Mode: The KCET exam will be conducted via offline mode (pen and paper-based test).
  • Courses: Candidates will get admissions in engineering, technology, pharmacy, Ayurveda, homeopathy, and other science courses.
  • Subjects: The questions will be asked from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Biology subjects. Candidates are required to choose only one from Mathematics and biology subjects.
  • Type of Question: In this examination, objective-type questions will be asked from each subject.
  • Exam Duration: Candidates will have a total of 80 minutes for each section. The exam will be conducted in different sessions, i.e. morning session (10:30 AM to 11:50 AM) and afternoon session (2:30 PM to 3:50 PM).
  • The language of Question Paper: The questions will be asked in the English language. Students also have an option to choose the Kannada language.
  • Writing Mode: Students can only use a black or blue ballpoint pen to mark their answers.
  • Marking Scheme: One mark will be given for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking in this exam. In the case of more than one answer for each question will be considered as a wrong answer.
  • Additional Exam: Language Test (for Bangalore candidates only) and Agriculture Practical Test (for agriculture aspirants).

Candidates should have to prefer the prescribed syllabus through the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State.

  • Physics– class 12 syllabuses which would include topics like Electrostatics, Magnetism, Optics, Current electricity, and Waves.
  • Chemistry– 12th standard syllabus with topics like Organic chemistry, surface chemistry, solid-state, electrostatics, polymers, and biomolecules.
  • Mathematics– Algebra, Integral calculus, Differential calculus, vectors, trigonometry, probability, and linear programming.
  • Kannada language test–  4th standard level.
