Since its appearance, three batches finished the institute. The institute is attracting over 12 lac average placement and was ranked between 26-30 among the Top Public B-Schools by an Outlook magazine. IIM Amritsar is offering a two-year-long MBA (PGP) program. The institute follows a two-step process for MBA admissions; where the first step comprises choosing candidates in PI-WAT on the basis of section-a sensible CAT score as well as various other components.
The second stage makes up of calculating for the cumulative score for the purpose of final selection. The minimum qualifying score needed for the CAT is 85%. A merit list will be prepared in accordance with the combined score secured by the candidate in different criteria such as- past academic performance, work experience, gender & academic diversity, and the score secured in CAT under which a number of candidates will be invoked to the PI-WAT.
The final selection will be held as per the candidate’s performance at PI and WAT, which will carry a weightage of 25% and 10% respectively. Admission will be granted on the basis of the overall score obtained in different components. The institute provides an edge towards students when it comes to placings since the intake is quite limited.

IIM Amritsar 2025 Application Form will be Released soon for Various Courses. To apply for admission to MBA (PGP) at IIM Amritsar, applicants should first register for the CAT exam through the official CAT website.
Step to Apply Online Application Form
- Create a user id and password to register.
- Log in using the registration credentials.

- Submit the form.
Application Fees:
INR. 1900/- (INR. 950/- about the reserved category candidates). The fee can be paid via debit/credit card through the payment gateway.
IIM Amritsar 2025 Eligibility Criteria
- The minimum eligibility to receive MBA is a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 50% marks [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons With Disability (PWD) categories] or equivalent from any recognized university.
- Candidates must possess minimum work experience of 6 months.
MBA Selection Criteria
Admission to MBA (PGP) is a two-stage selection that includes a minimum category-wise force on the score in CAT followed by WAT and Personal Interview for the selected candidates.
Initially, the candidates must take the CAT exam conducted at the All India level. Applicants must secure a minimum in cross-section cut off assigned for each category in order to get shortlisted for the next stage of the admissions process.
Stage I:
Shortlisting candidates to the PI-WAT Only those candidates who secured a pre-determined minimum percentile score in each section and the total score of CAT will be shortlisted for the PI-WAT round. Candidates obtaining the positive raw score in every section of the CAT will only be considered.
The following table represents the minimum percentile score requirement for CAT:

The candidate’s proportion score in 10th and 12th board exams are initially adjusted by dividing each subscore by the 90th percentile score obtained at their particular board. The same criteria is being tracked for calculating the score for the Bachelor’s degree.
For all the shortlisted candidates, their scores would be adjusted as per the following criteria:

The above-mentioned process facilitates the drawing up of the ranking list according to which a number of applicants will be called for the PI-WAT based on the order of their rank.
Note:
Candidates vying for PI/WAT rounds after you remove the minimum requisite CAT percentile will have to appear for the Personal Interview (PI) and Written Analysis Test (WAT) undertaken by the Institute.
The PI (35% weightage) and WAT (15% weightage) rounds sway the scores of the candidates on the final merit list.
Admissions for Post Graduate Program in IIM Amritsar are done based on the ranks of students in a final merit list.
Stage II: WAT-PI
All the applicants will be required to take a WAT on a topic provided by IIM Amritsar. The Writing Analysis Test (WAT) will be performed for a duration of 20 minutes to test for the candidate’s command over the appropriate language. During the Personal Interview, the panel will evaluate the candidate’s academic background, quality of work experience, and other personal traits.
Pre-PI scores and PI-WAT scores will be used cumulatively in the final phase to select applicants for the program. The final selection will be based on the merit list which will be prepared because of the following:
