CMC (Christian Medical College) Vellore Nursing is a University-level entrance exam held every year to offer admissions in the B.Sc Nursing, M.Sc Nursing, Diploma, and PG Diploma Nursing courses.
The CMC offers a lot of courses that are for UG and PG Applicants. Each course has an entrance exam that the applicants have to appear to get Admission. Candidates Seeking Admission into nursing courses in the Institute are required to obtain a qualifying score in the entrance test & assessment test.
The college is located in Tamil Nadu state, and the City is Vellore. The Result of the Entrance Exam decides the appropriate nursing course for the applicant.
CMC Vellore Nursing 2024 Exam Pattern
Important points about the paper pattern for applicants:
- This will be an Online Examination for applicants.
- The question paper will be in English language only.
- The question paper is set with MCQ-type questions only.
- There will be two options available for the applicants, and they can select anyone.
- The general paper includes Medical-surgical, Pediatric, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Community Health & Psychiatric.
- Speciality Paper will have questions that will be specific to the five specialities.
- Exam Mode: The exam will be conducted through Online (computer-based) mode.
- Medium Language: The language medium of the test will be the English language only.
- Questions Type: There will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) in the paper.
- Time Duration: UG Nursing courses’ time duration will be 70 minutes. While, for diploma nursing, 90 minutes will be given.
- Total Questions: For UG Nursing Courses, there will be a total of 120 questions in the General Ability and a few questions from issues of current topical interest. For the Diploma, there will be 90 questions – 25 in PCB subjects each and 15 in general ability.
- Papers: Candidates will be provided Two papers – a General Paper and a Specialty Paper. Either one or both of the papers can be preferred by the students.
General Instructions
- Each candidate will be assigned a workstation for the Computer Based Test.
- The candidate is required to be present in the test centre as specified in the Hall ticket.
- The candidates are not allowed to carry any belongings including mobile phone / cellular phone, pager, palmtop, blue tooth device, or any electronic device that has the potential of misuse or unauthorized communication during the examination inside the examination centre.
- The candidate is allowed to carry only a pen/pencil inside the test centre.
- The candidate is required to produce the hall ticket at the registration desk without which entry will not be allowed.
- At the registration desk, the identity of the candidate is verified, the hall ticket scanned, the photograph captured, fingerprint (left thumb impression) taken after which he/she will be assigned to a computer.
- For working purposes, one white paper will be provided at the workstation. No additional material will be given for rough work purposes.
- Once seated in the examination hall, the invigilator will take the candidate’s signature in a separate attendance sheet and collect the same.
- The administrator is authorized to dismiss the candidate from the test session for any of the following reasons:

Information on the Test
- The questions will be in English.
- In each of these sections, every question is followed by 4 answer options. Choose the most appropriate option. Indicate the answer by clicking on the circle adjacent to the option.
- Any question can be selected directly by clicking on the question number, which will appear at the bottom of the screen. The answered question number will be marked green and the unanswered/ skipped question number will remain in blue.
- In case of doubt in the answer, the question can be marked for review which will be indicated with an arrow mark under the question number. To unmark the question marked for review, get back to the same question and click on the question number.
- If there needs to be a change in the answer to any question, select the question and change the answer by clicking on the appropriate answer.
- Each correct answer fetches one mark.
- There is no negative marking.
- The test cannot be submitted until 90 minutes are complete. The “I have completed the test” button will appear only on completion of 90 minutes.
- The test closes automatically once the allotted time of 90 minutes is over.
- In case the candidate completes the test before the allotted time, he/she will get a confirmation page.
- In case the candidate wants to review the answers in the remaining time he/she can do so.
- Ensure to click on “submit” as a sign of completion.
- On completion of the computer-based test, the candidate will be able to see the screen indicating completion of the test with a thank you note.
Before leaving the examination hall the candidate needs to ensure that he/she has signed and handed over the lower portion of the hall ticket and used rough paper to the proctor.
