Eligibility Criteria are provided for KEAM 2024; all candidates should check the full eligibility criteria provided. Applier has to fulfil Nationality, Age Criteria, Qualification Criteria, etc., and are eligible to apply for the exam.
This exam is a gateway for providing admissions to professional degree courses in various fields like Engineering, Agriculture, and many others.
It is also referred to as the Kerala Engineering Entrance or Kerala Medical Entrance exam. KEAM (Kerala Entrance) is organized by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE), Kerala.

Nationality:
- Indian Nationals/PIO/OCI candidates can apply.
- Candidates seeking admission to these courses will be categorized as Keralite, Non-Keralite Category I (NK I) & Non-Keralite Category II (NK II).
Age Criteria:
- The minimum age limit should be 17 years as of 31st December 2024.
- There will be no upper age limit to apply.

Keralite:
The candidates who hold the domicile certificate of Kerala will come in this category. If the parents are the employees of All India Services of Kerala, then the children will be considered as ‘Keralites’ and eligible to apply without claiming any reservation.
Non-Keralite-1:
The candidates who are not of Kerala origin and even their parents also don’t have any residence proof of Kerala, but satisfying the following candidates:
- Passed their qualifying examination from Kerala and Parents are posted in Kerala and employees of defence or central government.
- The candidates whose parents have/served the Kerala Government for two years and appearing/appearing in the qualifying examination from Kerala will come in this category and be eligible to apply.
- In this case, if the candidate is not a permanent resident of Kerala but spent five years of his/her study in Kerala, then he/she is also eligible.
- Those who do not have a domicile certificate of Kerala but completed/are pursuing their 8th to 12th studies from Kerala are also eligible for KEAM 2024.
Note: The candidates of Non-Keralite-1 will be considered for ‘State Merit’ seats of Engineering/B.Pharm/Architecture/Medical & Allied courses. These candidates are not eligible to claim any reservation.

Non-Keralite Category II:
Those who do not fall under Keralite or Non-Keralite-1 will come under Non-Keralite Category II. This category candidate is eligible for admission to Government seats and Management quota seats in Engineering courses in Government Controlled Self-financing Colleges.
- Besides this, Non-Keralite Category II candidates are eligible for applying to Government Seats in Government Controlled Self Financing Engineering Colleges only when the Keralite and Non-Keralite I (NK I) candidates are not available for admission.
- These candidates are also eligible for admission to Government Seats and Management Quota seats in Private Self Financing Engineering/Architecture Colleges.
- NK II candidates are also eligible for admission to a maximum of 10% seats under Management Quota in Private Self Financing Pharmacy colleges.
- ‘Non-Keralite Category-II’ (NK II) candidates are not eligible for admission to Medical and Allied Courses, including MBBS/BDS, and for admission to Government Engineering Colleges.
Age Criteria:
- Lower Age Limit: The minimum age required for KEAM 2024 is 17 years. The candidates who have completed 17 years of age as of the 31st December 2024 are eligible to apply.
- Upper Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for KEAM 2024 Examination.
Documents required for eligibility
Candidates belonging to the categories mentioned above will have to produce certain documents to prove their eligibility. Otherwise, they will not be considered under that category during admission.
For Keralites:
In order to prove that a candidate is an Indian citizen of Kerala origin, he or she will have to produce any one of the following certificates along with the printout of the application form:
The actual copy of the relevant page of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate of the candidate shows the birthplace in Kerala.
OR
The actual copy of the relevant page of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate of either of the parents of the candidate showing birthplace in Kerala with a corroborative certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and the candidate.
OR
The actual copy of the relevant page of the Passport of the candidate, issued by the Government of India, showing birthplace in Kerala or of either of the parents of the candidate showing birthplace in Kerala with a corroborative certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and the candidate.
OR
Birth certificate from the authority competent to register the birth (Panchayat/ Municipality/ Corporation) showing the candidate’s or either of the parents (in which case a corroborative certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and the candidate is necessary) birthplace in Kerala, to be issued by a competent registering authority.
OR
Certificate from the Village Officer/ Tahsildar to show that the candidate or his/ her father/ mother was born in Kerala. This document has to be in the prescribed format along with the printout of the application.
OR
Certificate from the competent authority showing that the candidate’s parent is an All India Service officer allotted to Kerala cadre.

For Non-Keralites Category I (NK I):
In order to prove that the candidate belongs to Non-Keralite Category I (NK I), he or she will have to produce any one of the following certificates along with the printout of the application form:
Certificate to be issued by the employer in the prescribed format in the application from the Head of the organization, where the candidate’s parent (employee) is serving/ served, and the Certificate showing School studies in Kerala for Standards XI & XII has to be obtained from the Head of the institution where the candidate completed his/ her qualifying course in Kerala.
OR
Certificate of residence from the Village Officer/ Tahsildar to the effect that the candidate has been a resident of Kerala for five years within twelve years of his/ her study (to be obtained in the prescribed format along with the printout of the application).
OR
Certificate showing School Studies in Kerala from Std. VIII to XII obtained from the Head(s) of the educational institution(s) in Kerala in the case, that candidates have undergone school studies in Kerala to prove that the candidate has undergone his/ her studies in the schools in Kerala from Std. VIII to XII. This certificate has to be produced in the prescribed format in the application form.
For Non-Keralites Category II (NK II):
Such candidates will have to produce the Certificate of Completion of Qualifying Examination in the prescribed format in the application to prove their nativity or a copy of a Passport issued by the Government of India to prove Indian citizenship.
Educational Qualification
For admission to all B.Tech programs, including Agricultural Engineering, Food Engineering and Technology under Kerala Agricultural University, Dairy Technology and Food Technology courses under Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences University and Food Science and technology courses under Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, candidates must have the following educational qualification to be eligible for KEAM 2024.

- Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or equivalent examination with 50% marks in Mathematics separately and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission.
- Candidates applying for admission under Management Quota in Private Self Financing Engineering Colleges or controlled financing Engineering Colleges need 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
- In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, the marks in Computer Science will be considered. In case the candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science, the marks in Biotechnology will be considered. In case the candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science, and Biotechnology, the marks in Biology will be considered.
Qualifying Exam Marks
Candidates must have scored the following marks in their qualifying exam to be eligible for KEAM 2024:
- The average of the total marks of both the board years in the respective subjects, as shown in the mark lists of the respective Higher Secondary Boards or its equivalent, will be taken into consideration as academic eligibility in the case of Kerala Higher Secondary courses or examinations.
- The total marks of 10+2 boards, where board examinations are considered only in 10+2 in the respective subjects as shown in the mark lists of the respective Higher Secondary Boards, will be considered for academic eligibility in case of Higher Secondary courses or examinations recognized equivalent.
- The marks of the respective subjects as shown in the mark list of the respective Board of Examinations, will be considered for academic eligibility, for all other types of Higher Secondary courses or examinations.
- Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or equivalent examination with 50 % marks in Mathematics/ Biology separately and 50 % marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology put together will be eligible for admission to the reserved seats for Dairy Farm Instructors of Dairy Development Department for B.Tech. (Dairy Technology). Such candidates, however, who will be admitted to the course will have to take a make-up course in Basic Mathematics (2+0) credits or Applied Biology (1+1) credits as the case may be.
Note:
- The Vocational Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala will be recognized as equivalent to the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala.
- In the case of nominees of the Government of India and nominees of reciprocal quota seats selected on the basis of the marks in the qualifying examination, the above-mentioned academic eligibility will be applicable.
