IIM Calcutta Selection Criteria 2023 Eligibility Criteria

• Educational qualifications:
  • In order to get admission to the institution, it is important that one must have completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognized board or university.
  • However, those applicants are also eligible to apply for the admission procedure who have completed a bachelors degree or any equivalent CGPA awarded by any of the universities united by an act of the central or state administration in India or supplementary educational institutions recognized by an Act of parliament or acknowledged to be estimated as a university under section 3 of the UGC act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
• Qualifying marks:
  • In order to get admission one should score not less than 50% marks in the qualifying exam if they belong to the general
  • However, applicants who belong to a reserved category should score a minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying exam.
• Appearing applicants:
  • Appearing applicants who want to appear for the final year of the qualifying exam in the current year are also eligible to apply for the admission procedure but they need to submit some relevant documents at the time of admission.

IIM Calcutta Selection Criteria 2023 Admission Process

Shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI):

• In order to provide admission to the eligible applicants in PGP courses offered in the IIM C institutions, official authorities will nominate few applicants on the basis of the marks secured by them in the CAT 2023, past qualifying academics exams, etc.
• And for the reference of the applicants, the official authorities of the university will update the merit list of the nominated applicants on the official website of the university itself.
• Applicants who have scored higher marks in the CAT exam, SSC exam, HSC exams, etc. will be eligible to find their names in the merit list prepared by the authority and get admission to the institution.
• Official authorities will nominate applicants on the basis of the minimum cut off marks secured by the applicants in the CAT 2023 exam as mentioned below in the table:
• However official authorities will nominate few applicants for the PI and WAT on the basis of the above minimum cut-off marks.
• Official authorities will nominate eligible applicants for the PI round only if they meet the eligibility criteria.
• Those applicants who do not satisfy the eligibility criteria will not be able to get admission to the institution.

Criteria for final selection for PGP:

• In order to provide admission to the eligible applicants, official authorities will nominate applicants after completion of the interview round.
• That says that the applicants will be selected for the admission procedure on the basis of their performance in the CAT as well as SSC, HSC, WAT, and PI rounds.
• After checking all the marks of the applicants, the authority will prepare a final merit list.
• And the merit list will be updated on the official website of the university for the reference of the applicants.
• And on the basis of the merit list, official authorities will provide admission to the applicants.

 Short-listing for Personal Interviews (PI)

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their CAT score, past academic performance, and other criteria provided below.

Stage I: Minimum CAT percentile to be considered for a Personal Interview and Written Ability Test.

Candidates securing the above-mentioned minimum percentile in each category in CAT 2023 will only be considered for the calculation of their composite score in Stage II (described below). Please note that the actual section-wise and overall percentile of a short-listed candidate may be much higher than the above-mentioned minimum percentile.

The Composite Score is calculated by computing the percentage of marks as detailed in stage II  and assigning weights to different components as detailed in Table.

For computing, the percentage of marks obtained in Class X and Class XII, the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the mark sheet/grade sheet would be considered irrespective of whether the Board considers them for calculation of percentage or not.

After deriving the composite scores, the composite cut-off is decided in each category for short-listing the candidate in the Stage II selection process. The number of candidates to be short-listed for the PI and WAT process would be the sole discretion of the Institute depending upon the batch size of the incoming batch.

Stage III: Criteria for Final Selection for the MBA Programme

The composite score for final selection is derived as per the criterion based on the Table given below. The corresponding weights against each parameter are listed in Table given below which are used for the preparation of the category-wise merit list.

Work Experience

For work experience, a maximum of eight points will be awarded based on the length of service as of January 31, 2023. (Please refer to Table 6 below). However, only managerial work experience after graduation will be considered. Training/Project work/work done as an integral part of the curricular requirements will not be considered.

The final selection list will be based on merit in each category; minimum qualification on the above-mentioned criteria would not automatically qualify the candidate for admission into IIM Calcutta.
