TNEA 2026 Eligibility Criteria

• If candidates have studied from 8th to 12th outside Tamil Nadu, they need to provide the Original Nativity Certificate in electronic or digitally signed e-certificate format.
• Children of Central Government Employees can also apply, provided their native status is from Tamil Nadu for the past five years.
• Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee candidates studying in Tamil Nadu will be considered under open competition. They need to present an Identification certificate from the headquarters of Tahsildar or an original passport, visa, and registered letter from the Police Station if not registered in a refugee camp.

Education Qualification:

• Candidates must have passed their 11th and 12th classes or equivalent from a recognized board.
• They must have studied Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in their qualifying exam.
• The minimum marks required for eligibility vary by category:

For the Marine Engineering course:

• Age Limit: Maximum age is 25 years.
• Qualification: Candidates should have passed 12th intermediate or equivalent from any recognized board.
• Marks: Minimum marks required are 60% in PCM and 50% in English.
• Subjects: Candidates must have passed their qualifying exam in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English.

TNEA 2026 Rank List

The TNEA Rank List for 2026 will be released in the third week of August. Candidates can access it using their registered email ID and password. The merit list will be formulated based on candidates’ marks in the qualifying exam, which will be scaled down to a basis of 200 marks (100 for Mathematics, 50 for Physics, and 50 for Chemistry).

To ensure fairness, the authority will employ the normalization method in preparing the TNEA rank list. Candidates selected based on merit will proceed to the counselling procedure.

TNEA 2026 Cut-Off

They must access the portal using their user ID and Password for counselling procedures, which include choice filling, allotment, confirmation of allotment, and reporting to the college. During counselling, candidates must select their preferred colleges and branches and pay the counselling fee. It is mandatory to bring original documents for verification.
