CLAT Counselling 2025 Allotment Result – Seat Allocation Process

During the CLAT 2025 seat allotment process, candidates who have completed the counselling registration will be eligible for seat allocation. The following outlines the seat allocation procedure:

Step 1: Seat Acceptance/Seat Upgrade/Exit Admission Process

Candidates who have been allotted a seat in CLAT 2025 have the following options:

  • Accept the Seat: Use this option to confirm your choice of NLU. Once you lock the seat, it is frozen, and you will not participate in further seat allotment rounds. You must complete the remaining admission formalities for the allotted NLU.
  • Apply for Upgrade: Choose this option if you want to change your allotted institute to a higher preference (upward shifting). You will await the next seat allotment list to be considered for your preferred college based on seat availability. Candidates opting for upgrade remain active participants and must complete the remaining admission formalities for the newly allotted NLU.
  • Exit from Seat Allotment: Candidates can opt to exit from the counselling process if they do not wish to participate in current or future rounds. Once you exit, you will not have another opportunity to participate in CLAT counselling for NLU admissions.

Step 2: Completing Admission Formalities

After candidates accept the allotted seat or apply for an upgrade in CLAT 2025, they must complete the following steps:

  • Upload Prescribed Documents: Candidates need to upload all required documents on the official CLAT website for verification. These documents typically include educational certificates, identity proof, photographs, etc., as specified during the counselling process.
  • Pay Admission Fee: Once documents are verified, candidates must pay the remaining admission fee to the allotted NLU. This fee payment confirms their acceptance of the seat and completes the admission process.

CLAT 2025 Counselling Fee Refund

Here are the instructions for candidates to get a full refund of CLAT Counselling Registration Fees 2025:

  • No Seat Allotted or Exit from the Counselling Process: If a candidate is not allotted a seat by the end of the Fifth round of the Counselling Process or chooses to exit without selecting the Freeze or Float option, the Counselling Registration Fee will be refunded in full.
  • Seat Allotted and Choosing Exit Option: If a candidate is allotted a seat and chooses the Float or Freeze option but later decides to Exit or fails to complete admission by paying fees, the Counselling Registration Fee will be refunded in full if the Exit option is exercised before the last date. After the last date, a deduction of Rs 5,000 will be applicable.
  • First-Time Allotment in Fifth Round and Exit Option: If a candidate is allotted a seat for the first time in the Fifth round of counselling and chooses to Exit or fails to complete admission by paying fees, the Counselling Registration Fee will be refunded in full.
  • Ineligibility Determination: If a candidate is found ineligible based on document/information verification by an NLU, Rs 5,000 will be deducted from the Counselling Registration Fee, and the remaining amount will be refunded.
  • Refund Process: Refunds will be processed to the same bank account from which the Counselling Registration Fee was paid. Candidates must ensure their bank accounts remain functional throughout the counselling process and refund period. Requests to transfer refunds to another account will not be entertained.
  • Confirmation Fee: The Confirmation Fee paid by candidates will be adjusted against the fees payable at the NLU where admission is secured. If a candidate chooses the Exit Option, fails to pay fees within the specified date, or is found ineligible, the Confirmation Fee will not be refunded.

What are Freeze, Float and Exit options in CLAT 2025 Counselling?

During CLAT counselling, candidates are presented with three choices: Freeze, Float, and Exit, each serving specific purposes:

  • Freeze Option: Candidates content with the allocated seat and not wishing to partake in subsequent rounds can choose this. Selecting ‘Freeze’ confirms the seat at the National Law University (NLU) and exempts the candidate from further counselling rounds.
  • Float Option: If dissatisfied with the current seat but willing to participate in later rounds for a better seat, candidates may choose ‘Float.’ This option allows acceptance of the present seat while expressing interest in future counselling rounds. If allotted a subsequent seat, the earlier one gets forfeited.
  • Exit Option: Candidates no longer wanting to continue with the counselling process can select ‘Exit.’ This withdrawal option removes them from further consideration in the counselling rounds.

Note: The availability of these options might differ among NLUs and counselling rounds. Candidates are advised to verify this information on the official CLAT website or the respective NLU’s site for precise details.
