NTA JEE Main Result 2025 – Normalization Process

Due to variations in the difficulty level across different sessions of the JEE Main exam, authorities utilize a process called normalization. This ensures fairness in score comparison among candidates. The normalized JEE Main 2025 scores, released by NTA, indicate the percentage of candidates whose scores are equal to or below the scores of the candidate who achieved the highest score in that specific session.

The formula used for calculating normalized NTA scores is as follows:

  • The formula for calculating normalized NTA score:
    • Normalized NTA Score=(100×number of candidates with a raw score equal to or less than the total number of candidates who appeared in that session)Normalized NTA Score=(total number of candidates who appeared in that session100×number of candidates with a raw score equal to or less than the candidate)
  • A normalized NTA score is not equivalent to the percentage of marks obtained in the examination.
  • This formula addresses variations in difficulty levels across different exam sessions, ensuring fairness in score comparison among candidates.

JEE Main Result 2025 – Percentile Calculation

The National Testing Agency computes the scores of JEE Main 2025 by determining percentiles for individual subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, as well as for the combined score. This is achieved through the utilization of a normalization formula.

Percentile Calculation FormulaDescription
Total Percentile (T1P)Total Percentile (T1P)=(Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session100×No. of candidates from the session with a raw score equal to or less than T1 score)

JEE Main Result 2025 – Inter-se Merit and Tie-Breaking Rule

In cases where two or more candidates achieve the same NTA score in the JEE Main result, the National Testing Agency (NTA) implements tie-breaking criteria to assign a unique All-India rank. The priority-wise list of subjects’ scores considered for breaking a tie in the NTA JEE Main result 2025 is as follows:

  • Mathematics Score: If candidates have the same total score, their Mathematics score is compared. The candidate with a higher Mathematics score is given priority.
  • Physics Score: If the Mathematics scores are also equal, the Physics score of the candidates is compared. The candidate with a higher Physics score is ranked higher.
  • Chemistry Score: If there is still a tie after comparing Mathematics and Physics scores, the Chemistry score of the candidates is evaluated. The candidate with a higher Chemistry score is placed higher in the ranking.
  • Age: If the tie persists even after considering the scores in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, the age of the candidates is taken into account. The older candidate is given preference in the ranking process.

JEE Main Result 2025 – Re-Evaluation/Re-Checking

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has stated that requests for re-evaluation or re-checking of the NTA JEE Main 2025 result will not be entertained. The scores obtained by candidates in the JEE Main 2025 results will be considered final.

It’s important to understand the distinction between JEE Main percentage and percentile scores. While many students confuse the two, they are entirely different concepts. The JEE Main percentage is determined by absolute marking, whereas the percentile is calculated based on relative marking.

Calculating JEE Main Percentage: (100 x Marks obtained by candidate) / Total marks

Calculating JEE Main Percentile 2025: (100 x Number of candidates in the session with aggregate marks less than that obtained by the candidate) / Total number of candidates who appeared in that session.

Regarding the availability of JEE Main 2025 results by name, NTA has not provided any provision for checking results by name. Candidates can only access their NTA IIT JEE Mains 2025 result using their application number and date of birth/password.
